In Hebrews 5:10 Jesus is designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. The next verse says, "concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain..."   Melchizedek is recognized as a type of Christ!  This week we will attempt to explain the "hard to explain."  Genesis 14:17-24 Part 6 in the series: in the beginning... The Lord said to Abraham, "Go forth," so "Abraham went forth as the Lord had spoken to him."  Well...sort of!  The heroes of the Bible are not perfect without flaws!  They are people like us, and I can relate to that!  Genesis 11:31-12:9  Part 5 in the series: in the beginning... GOD

The majority isn't always right.  "By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family."  Hebrews 11:7  Noah believed in the midst of a faithless, godless, unsympathetic society, and he was saved!  Here we are again! "Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."  (Genesis 6:5). How could it get so bad, so quickly?  GOD in His justice flooded the earth and in His grace saved eight people! Part 3 in the series: in the beginning... GOD

The book of Genesis is foundational to the understanding of the rest of the Bible.  Genesis speaks of beginnings--of the heavens and the earth, of light and darkness, of seas and skies, of land and vegetation, of sun and moon and stars, of sea and air and land animals, of human beings (made in God's image, the climax of His creative activity), of marriage and family, of society and civilization, of sin and redemption.  The list could go on and on.
